NEW! Trainee Sawmill Operative
Reporting to: Head Sawmiller
As a trainee sawmill operative, your main responsibility will be helping our head operative accurately and efficiently work the sawmill and log lathe to produce timber materials at required sizes. You are expected to work safely at all times. Experience not necessary as all training will be given.
Tasks include but are not limited to:

Efficiently and accurately milling and turning timber

Cutting timbers to length

Pressure washing bark from logs if required

Ensure that you and others around you are working safely at all times
-
Organise, maintain and take care of company tools, assets and plant machinery
-
Conduct yourself in a manner expected from a professional tradesperson
-
Keep the yard and/or site clean and tidy
-
Drive lifting machinery with care, observing safe working practices and formal training
-
Use tools & PPE safely and responsibly
-
Help in all other facets of the business from time to time as required

NEW! Trainee Log Builder
Reporting to: Yard Manager / Team Leader
Role: We build exquisite handcrafted log homes using traditional log building techniques. The trade of log building is unique. This position offers the fantastic opportunity to learn this rare skill set, work outdoors and be active while being part of a great and growing team. The role offers on-the-job training that is not available elsewhere along with structured progression within the company.
We also have a bonus scheme in place for hitting build targets which comes into effect following your six month probation period.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

Pressure washing logs
-
Scribing, sanding, treating logs
-
Efficiently and accurately cutting and fitting logs using chainsaws and hand tools
-
Accurately perform marking-out tasks
-
Ensuring that you and others around you are working safely at all times
-
Organising, maintaining and taking care of company tools and assets
-
Conducting yourself in a manner expected from a professional tradesperson
-
Keeping the yard and/or site clean and tidy
-
Driving lifting machinery (if licensed to do so) with care, observing safe working practices and formal training
-
Using tools safely and responsibly
-
Helping in any other facets of the business from time to time as required
The successful candidate will have:

Excellent work ethic

A good level of fitness

Initiative to learn and implement those learnings

Good time keeping

Passion for working with wood and being outdoors

Commitment to learn the trade with a view to long term employment

Full clean driving licence
Experience of using a chainsaw is beneficial but not essential as training will be given

Salary: £19,691 to £20,400.00 per year + bonus potential of £6000 net per yr
Hours: 08:00-17:00 Mon-Fri
